JUNIOR SCHOOL

Introduction

Junior school is made up of Key Stage 1 and Key stage 2. KS1 is Year 1 and Year 2 and KS2 is Years 3 to Year 6.The information included here gives you an overall view of the curriculum we follow in each stage of their education. Before moving on to KS1, the children are enabled in Early Years Foundation Stage to develop basic reading and writing and maths skills.

Key Stage 1

Key Stage 1 includes Year 1 and Year 2.  Before moving on to Key Stage 1, which covers Year 1 and Year 2, the children will have been enabled to develop basic reading, writing and mathematics skills. Throughout Key Stage 1, the children will be developing their social, emotional, personal and academic skills giving them the ability to become confident and independent learners.

Key Stage 2

Key Stage 2 covers Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.  The students will have acquired a solid foundation of reading, writing and numeracy skills during Key Stage 1 and they will have achieved the skills necessary to access the study plan in this new Key Stage.

Subjects taught at The Academy meet the requirements of the British National Curriculum. The goal throughout the curriculum is to provide the children with continuity, progression, and development from year to year
whilst at the same time challenging and extending their learning.

Key Stage 1:
Art and design, Computing, English, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Sports, Science and subjects of the Spanish education system.

Key Stage 2:
Art and Design, Computing, English, French or German, Geography, History, Mathematics, Music, Science, Sports and subjects from the Spanish education system.
