Curriculum Outline

SECONDARY

At The Academy Senior school we offer studies of the British educational system (IGCSE) up to Year 11 and the International Baccaulareate® for 6th form. Year 8 and Year 9 students study the full curriculum including the compulsory subjects of the Spanish system. This includes sciences, humanities, creative subjects and languages. In Year 10 and Year 11 students study the IGCSEs and at the end of Year 11 they take the IGCSE examinations. Students then receive their IGCSE certificates which enables them to continue into the IB Diploma Programme or equivalent pre-university qualification.

After this phase, students can homologate their degree to the Spanish system. Students who pass the IGCSE exams and meet THE ACADEMY admissions requirements will be offered the opportunity to enroll in our International Baccalaureate® Diploma Program (DP)®.

This is a program that offers to meet the objectives that students have set for their academic development at the university of their choice or other alternatives.

IGCSE

IGCSEs  are widely known throughout the world and are the benchmark for education in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We offer a wide selection of IGCSEs. Each student chooses around 8 subjects, of which there are compulsory ones such as English, Mathematics, Science and a modern language.

International Baccalaureate

The International Baccalaureate® Diploma Program (DP)® began at THE ACADEMY in 2017 with 8 students. We were the first international school in the Balearic Islands to offer the program 100% in English and it is currently very popular among the school community on the island.
