Whilst learning through the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ the children in Reception 1 recapped the language of size to compare length and height. They found a giant’s footprint and drew around their own to measure it with a tape measure. This week some of the children were very interested in exploring new magnetic resources. The activity was child led, the teacher had set up the resources for their arrival and in no time, children began to explore the new resources, feeling them, manipulating the shapes to create models and share ideas with their friends. Throughout Key Stage 3 the students do drama performances to complement their English studies. The use of playscripts, role play and drama activities helps develops their confidence and vocabulary. Last week Year 7 performed A Midsummers Night’s Dream and this week Year 8 did short plays to re-tell the story of Pandora’s Box.

This week the IB biologists investigated the mechanics of breathing by looking at lung function, measuring tidal volumes, expiration and expiratory reserve volumes. This is an experiment which is part of their IB course.

Our Nursery children were showing their great skills in sports lessons this week with Ms Hannah. They love these lessons doing a range of sports, learning about teamwork and developing their large motor skills.

Our youngest students enjoyed so much outdoor learning this week – the Nursery children were very excited to visit the garden and to see how things are growing and changing. A walk in the garden is a relaxing, sensory experience. We encourage the children to use all their senses to explore and learn about the environment around them.

The Year 4 students had a very informative and interesting excursion to an Egyptian exhibition in Palma last Friday. They heard so much about life in Ancient Egypt and were able to ask the experts lots of questions. The group loved their play in the park afterwards and their picnic lunch.
